The mission of The Carlsbad (NM) AWARE Program, Inc. is to increase community awareness and knowledge of the issues involved in teen parenting, place an emphasis on child development and wellness; and work to decrease teen pregnancy while optimizing education opportunities for those who are.
The AWARE Program has three areas of focus:
Working to meet the needs of pregnant and parenting teens is the focus on which this program was founded in 1979.  By providing parenting education and quality childcare on campus, barriers are removed that might otherwise prohibit acquisition of a much-needed education.
Secondly, we focus on the emotional needs of Carlsbad's youth.  Through various age-appropriate support groups and programs, we offer assistance to help young people as they navigate through life.
Our third focus is on community outreach.  AWARE provides numerous educational opportunities for the community related to the well-being of children.
