A Publication for the United Way of Carlsbad & South Eddy County
United Way of Carlsbad & South Eddy County has kicked off its 2018 Annual Campaign with our pace setter organization, Intrepid Potash. For the past several years, Intrepid, together with United Way leadership and member agencies, set the pace by running an early and aggressive workplace campaign. The enthusiasm and generosity of Intrepid employees resulted in a Pace setter campaign total of over $51,000. That is a 7% increase over last year. Intrepid corporate has committed to providing a $45,000 donation; therefore, total support from Intrepid Employees and Corporate are nearly $100,000.
“This year, as in every year, our goal is to raise as much money for community services as possible,” said United Way Executive Director, Linda Dodd. “We believe that all of us should strive for the day in which volunteers charged with making funding decisions are not challenged with requests that far exceed available funds.” Last year, United Way funded 20 local programs providing food, shelter, healthcare, victim services, and educational initiatives. “A successful campaign should be measured by our ability to meet funding requests that creates positive, measurable outcomes in our community,” said Dodd.
In order to maintain last year’s funding and be able to fund additional essential programs in our community, the United Way Board of Directors have approved a goal of $650,000. United Way’s annual campaign is a vital part of the organization’s work, because 98% of every dollar given to United Way goes to support local programs.
“Thousands of families in our community depend on health and human service programs to maintain a reasonable quality of life,” said Dodd. “Those individuals are depending on us to mobilize local resources to provide the vital services they depend on.”
